My Philosophy
Being an Artist since I could hold a pencil
Trail’s early artistic expression in New Zealand was from pre school. Though not an art school graduate Shane made art in many forms whilst working in bars & restaurants in his formative years. The first in the form of exterior street art when in 1990 he collaborated with revered musician, producer and artist DLT on numerous street art projects.
From 1992 to 1996, Shane painted and exhibited work in numerous shows in London – in prominent venues such as Art space in Spitalfield Markets and ‘The Union’ private Members Club in Soho.
In 2002 Shane completed a post graduate course in Spatial and Interior Design at Auckland AUT which coupled with the journey in interior design has influenced his artwork for the last 2 decades. Using found objects and casting in resin and plaster, he has drawn inspiration from artists – Damian Hurst, Andy Warhol & Banksy.
For the last 26 years Shane has been working on minimalistic geometric pieces and has exhibited and sold his work in Australia.
“My work comprises strong textural pieces that convey a minimalist style, I choose objects that matter & that allow me to explore my thoughts and the inspiration from my everyday experiences and influences.
Shane’s artworks are in private & corporate collections in the UK, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
